DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT:
From the beginning, even as a child, I always felt that the hardest thing to do was to truly see something as it really is. Since then I’ve discovered that it is much more difficult than I had ever imagined.
Working exclusively from life, I take my inspiration directly from the subject, while being mindful to not be enslaved to it. The painting serves as a reminder to us of the subject and all its qualities. There is the passing of time, of moments seen and lost, which accumulate on the surface in the form of colour, line, and tone.
