DESCRIPTION/STATEMENT:
Ross Jarrett is a 1978 graduate of Miami Photography College in Miami, FL. After college, Ross became a certified retinal angiographer and artist, working in that field for 30 years. Since he began taking pictures of the eye, he noticed that the black-and-white angiograms were quite beautiful. In his spare time Jarrett would manipulate some of the photographs and found that they could be quite amazing. Over time, technology provided the ophthalmic world with digital pictures that were in color. Jarrett began digitally enhancing the retinal images. He then took his art work one step further and began painting on the images and this resulted in the creation of ‘Retinascapes,’ his internationally shown work of ‘the eye as art’. His interest in nature and the natural world led to also producing interesting images of the local area and professional sports.
